OUR STORY

What we do

Totally Tangerine Cookery is a multi-award winning cookery school in Surrey. We want to spread the love of food to children of all ages, teenagers, and adults. The cookery sessions we run are hands-on and allows children to use their senses to learn and explore food.

I believe that teaching children to cook from scratch at a young age can help boost their confidence, encourage them to try new foods and enjoy eating good food for the rest of their adult life! We offer cookery clubs and workshops in primary schools and nurseries, hoping to pave the way for the next generation of foodies.

I am also EYFS trained and am studying paediatric health and nutrition so I can incorporate what I can into all our cookery sessions.

All our cookery supervisors have the following certification:

  • DBS Checked
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene
  • Pediatric First Aid Trained
  • Safeguarding Certificate
ABOUT

Meet Cat

My name is Catherine Hayes, the founder of Totally Tangerine Cookery, who is passionate about food, cooking and nutrition, I am also a mum of two little people. I left my events and marketing career behind to do something I love, and I have never looked back (although I still occasionally dabble in events projects).

When my children started primary school, I was so excited to see what they come home with and what they have learnt about food but sadly, due to a variety of reasons, schools were not able to provide a regular food education in school. I decided to start my own cookery school in 2018 to teach children how to cook wholesome food from scratch. I wanted to teach this important life skill to as many children as possible and help them make healthier eating choices whilst having fun along the way.

Food has always been a massive part of my life – my Filipino mother, grandmother and aunties all cooked from scratch and I use to watch them as a child… Remembering the smells and laughter from the kitchen. Once old enough to cook on my own, I spent a lot of time mixing, cooking and baking in the kitchen and still do! I have been lucky enough to be able to hone my cooking skills over the years learning from experts around the world.

The Tangerine Cooking Cabin

We have recently opened a cookery studio in Shepperton by the river where we offer lots of fun cooking classes for adults and children, collaborations with local chefs and foodie events involving local food producers in Surrey. This space is for all food lovers who want to learn to cook, experience new cuisines, perfect their kitchen skills or discover a new love for all things food.

The Tangerine Cooking Cabin is located in the Courtyard, behind the Coffee Ferry Shop by Shepperton Lock. Come by to say Hello and enjoy a cup of coffee in a beautiful setting surrounded by artisan shops.

We look forward to cooking with you soon!
